The Saints entered gamely as mentioned before with a slew of injuries and we knew this was not going to be a walk in the park as such. The good news was Alvin Kamara and Taysom Hill both entered this week completely healthy.

As we figured, the Saints utilized both of them on the wings frequently on offense given the fact that two starting offensive linemen were out of the game. Lucas Patrick played well returning to his spot at left guard while Shane Lemeaux was serviceable at center. Goalie play was passable by the line.

The problem, as usual, for this Dennis Allen defense was getting off the field on 3rd downs and committing a few costly pass interference penalties en route to giving up 26 points to the Falcons. The Saints D did stiffen up later in the game and gave our offense a couple of chances in which they capitalized and gave us a one point lead with a little over a minute to play in the game. However, the Falcons offense was a little too good for the depleted fleur-d- lis D today and were able to march down the Saints 40 yard line with assistance from one of the aforementioned PI calls that went against our defense. Falcons kicker Younghoe Koo bombed his career long 56 yarder and that was that. The Falcons now retake the all time series lead against the Saints 56-55. Well that stinks just like an unbathed goat!

The Falcons improve to 2-2 and second place in the NFC South behind the 3-1 Tampa Bay Buccaneers, while the Saints fall to 2-2 and third place while looking to have to get right against one of the best teams and QB’s in the NFL next week on Monday Night Football when they travel to Arrowhead Stadium to take on Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
