The Bees continue their dominating performance as they rout the defending champion San Antonio Spurs at the AT&T Center. The final was 102-78 with New Orleans using a late surge to pull away.
The Hornets remain atop the west at 31-12 and are now 6-2 in the division.
The Hornets answer their toughest test of this dominating stretch by having their their most dominating of them all. The Hornets, perhaps playing on NBA TV, made a statement to the country and the rest of the league, “We’re Good” and the West road to the title game could go through New Orleans. The Bees are 22-8 in the conference. At the Hive they are 15-7. One the road they are 15-5. They will look to extend their streak when they take on Denver Monday at 7pm at the Hive. SAN ANTONIO, Jan. 26 (AP) — David West scored 32 points and the New Orleans Hornets won their eighth straight, routing the defending champion San Antonio Spurs 102-78 on Saturday night.
Peja Stojakovic added 22 points, including four 3-pointers, and Chris Paul had 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Hornets.
Tim Duncan and Tony Parker scored 17 points apiece for San Antonio, which has now lost five games at home this season.
The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for the Spurs, who head out on a nine-game road trip starting on Monday.
The Hornets led by as many as 26 points and outscored the Spurs 60-35 in the second half, when they took control of the game and grabbed the lead for good.
